 Background

The City of West Sacramento is nearing construction on the new I Street Bridge Replacement Project between the Sacramento Railyards and West Sacramento's growing Washington District. Sacramento Avenue, one of the City's most significant east-west transportation corridors extending from Interstate 80 to 3rd Street will soon connect across the Sacramento River into the Railyards Specific Plan area. The purpose of the Sacramento Avenue Complete Street Plan is to articulate the current challenges on the corridor and recommend achievable solutions to implement a cohesive, comprehensive vision. The Sacramento Avenue Complete Street Plan will provide the framework and recommendations for the transformation of a crucial east/west transportation corridor from a vehicle centric arterial to a Complete Street multimodal corridor.

Funding

Through the 2021 SACOG Funding Round - Community Design Funding Program – Non-Competitive Funding Category, the City was awarded $273,000 in Regional Surface Transportation Program funds. The City is providing $59,500 of local funds to develop the Sacramento Avenue Complete Street Corridor Improvement Plan.
